10 gamblers arrested

SRINAGAR, Oct 10: Police arrested 10 gamblers and recovered stake money of Rs 10,750 from the gambling sites here today.
A Police spokesman said that in its endeavor to weed out social crimes from the society, Srinagar Police arrested 10 gamblers at two different places in district Srinagar.
He said in a raid at Sheikh Colony near Sultan-ul-Aarifeen School here, a police party of Police Station Rainawari arrested five gamblers identified as Showkat Ahmad Shiekh, a resident of Sheikh Colony Rainawari, Showkat Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Sheikh Colony, Androoni Kathidar-waza, Shahid Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Rambagh and Bilal Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Rambagh Sheikh Colony. Stake money of Rs 2,520 and playing cards were recovered from the spot.
He further said that in another raid at Behrar Baghwanpora, a police party of Police Station Lal Bazar apprehended five more gamblers identified as Shabir Ahmad Dhobi, a resident of Dhobi Mohalla Botakadal, Bilal Ahmad Kungi, a resident of Soura Owantabawan, Ishfaq Ahmad Baba, a resident of Amdakadal Lalbazar, Javid Ahmad Mir, a resident of Botakadal and Khursheed Ahmad Bazaz, a resident of Alamdar Colony Lal Bazar. Stake money of Rs 8,230 and playing cards were recovered from the said spot.
