POONCH, May 31: At least ten persons were injured in a group clash over land dispute in Kalaban area of Mendhar today.
Official sources said that two families had some old enmity over a piece of land in Kalaban area. Today when one family tried to raise construction in the said land, the other one objected. It was followed by heated exchanges and then scuffle between them. Both the sides freely exchanged lathis and sharp edged weapons and also indulged in stone pelting on each other as the fight took ugly turn.
Ten person including some women, were injured in bloody clash. The injured were later removed to SDH Mendhar. The police registered counter FIRs in this connection.
The injured were indentified as Mohd Younis, son of Ghulam Hussain; Mohd Rashid, son of Alif Din; Ghulam Bi, wife of Ghulam Hussain; Samina Kouser, wife of Abdur Rehman; Sharifa Bi, wife of Mohd Yunis; Mohd Hussain, son of Juma; Liaqat Ali, son of Mohd Azam; Mohd Qasim, Wazira Bi and Akina Kouser. The police has taken cognizance.
