10 injured during clash between two families

JAMMU, Dec 1: 10 persons were injured, four of them in firing, during a clash between two families that broke out over eve teasing of a girl of one family by a boy of another family, in Sunjwan area of city outskirts.
Quoting Shah Mohd, father of the girl, a police spokesman said that Mohd Javed son of Mohd Yousuf used to tease his daughter and this evening he along with his family members reached their house at Firdousa Abad in Sunjwan and they first abused them and then attacked with sharp edged weapons resulting into injuries to four of his family members.
The spokesman further said that to save their family from their attack, Shah Mohd fired some rounds from his 12-bore rifle and four of family members of the opposite party injured, as splinters of the bullets hit them.
“A total of 10 persons (four from girl’s side and six from boy’s side) were injured”, DSP City East, Chandan Kohli said, adding all the injured were hospitalized and were stable except girl’s grandfather, who received serious head injuries.
The injured from the first party are Gulzar Mohd and Shokat Ali, sons of Haji Mohd Ali, Mohd Ali son of Hussain Bakash and Sadam Hussain son of Gulzar Mohd while the injured from 2nd party are Mohd Yusuf son of Imam Din, Mohd Amin, Mohd Ashraf and Mohd Elyas, sons of Mohd Yusuf, Mohd Muneer son of Mohd Bashir and Mohd Irfan son of Abdul Majeed.
The officer said that two separate FIRs under relevant sections have been registered at police station Trikuta Nagar and investigations are underway. “We have also detained five persons in this connection”, he added.
