REASI, June 28: In its continuous drive against drug mafia, Reasi police today apprehended two drug peddlers and seized 10 kg poppy straw, which was being smuggled in a truck from Kashmir to Reasi.
The truck bearing registration number JK02AL-5292 was intercepted by a Police party, led by Dy SP Headquarters, Vaseem Hamdani and SHO Reasi, Inspector Ashwani Sharma, during a naka checking near Sulla Park.
During the search, 10 kg of poppy straw was recovered, which was concealed in the vehicle. When Police was searching the truck, driver of the vehicle, identified as Mohd Javed son of Mohd Bashir of Seela Reasi, managed to flee.
However, both the associates of the driver, identified as Amzed Khan son of Mohd Latief of Kheral and Ishfaq ul Rafiq son of Mohd Rafiq of Seela, were arrested on the spot. Police also seized the truck as well as the seized poppy straw.
A case FIR number 129/19 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act was registered against the accused.
