UDHAMPUR, May 25: Continuing its drive against smuggling of narcotics and psychotropic substances, police party of Police Station Majalta today apprehended one drug peddler and seized 10 kg poppy straw from his possession.
The consignment was being smuggled in a truck bearing registration number PB13AA-9975, which was intercepted by a police team, led by SHO Majalta, Inspector Virender Gupta at Police Check Post Battal.
During search, 10 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the truck. The truck driver, identified as Amarjeet Singh, son of Darshan Singh of Sasana, Hoshiarpur (Punjab), was arrested on the spot while the recovered poppy straw as well as the vehicle was also seized.
In this connection, case FIR number 43 / 2021, U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Majalta.
