10 more held for Ramban violence

JAMMU, Dec 29: Police today arrested 10 more miscreants for their involvement in vandalism at Ramban town on July 18 in the aftermath of killings of four civilians in the BSF firing at Gool. With this, number of total arrests has gone up to 24. Police have identified a total of 109 miscreants for violence and arson in the Government offices and other places after the killings.
Reports said all 10 miscreants were arrested from different places in Ramban district. They would be produced in the court of law tomorrow morning.
They were involved in three First Information Reports Nos. 106, 107 and 108 registered on July 18 this year under Sections 436, 336, 147, 148, 332, 323 and 341 RPC at Ramban police station.
The miscreants arrested by Ramban police today have been identified as Mohammad Yusuf son of Abdullah Aziz, a resident of Sumbar, Mushtaq Ahmad son of Abdul Hamid Sheikh R/o Kahubagh, Sajjad Ahmad son of Atta Mohammad R/o Maitra, Abdul Gani son of Ghulam Mohammad R/o Tatarsu, Zaheer Ahmad son of Mohammad Shaffi, a resident of Kahubagh, Arif Ahmad son of Ghulam Nabi R/o Kahubagh.
Mohammad Iqbal son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din and Basharat Ali son of Sanaullah, both residents of Gandhri, Mohammad Rafi son of Mehboob Ahmad of Maitra and Mohammad Amin son of Abdul Rashid R/o Sund Wali, all in Ramban district.
Police had named 109 persons in three FIRs lodged against the miscreants, who had vandalized the Government property in the office of Deputy Commissioner, Ramban and other places in Ramban town immediately after the report of Gool killings spread.
A number of vehicles-both Government and private–were set on fire and furniture damaged by the miscreants in protest against the BSF firing on mob in which four civilians were killed.
