Mr Das said the estate had already supplied 1,000 kg processed tea leaves to Tehran last month and next consignment of 12,000 kg  leaves was almost ready to export.
‘According to the agreement, every month, the estate authority will send at least 10,000 kg orthodox tea leaves to Tehran-based enterprise,” Mr Das said, adding that the tea estate had got ever-highest rate in selling of tea  leaves.
The importer would pay Rs 460 for each kg of tea and it would be transported through Kolkata and Mumbai to Iran. last year Manuvalley Tea estate of North Tripura had sold a bulk amount of green tea leaves to Britain, Afghanistan and  Pakistan.
The report said, Manuvalley had sold the tea leaves at Rs
260 per kg and still they had been supplying the leaves to Europe and middle-east on regular basis but Golukpur estate got the chance to sell its orthodox leaves to Iran this time.
‘Somehow, the demand of orthodox tea has inceased recently in international market suppressing all times preference of green tea and since Tripura’s climate is most suitable for such leaves nutrients, the demand was higher than any other tea producing state,’ said Industries and Commerce Minister Jitendra Choudhury.
He, however, pointed out that tea leaves of Lodhua estate of South Tripura has installed a new broiler machine for processing green tea after getting a huge response from international market.
‘Lodhua became a brand for Italian and Germans, besides they are exploring the potential of forming tea-tourism surrounding the estate,’ Mr Choudhury stated and added that tea-tourism had already gained a ground in Tripura. (UNI)
