SRINAGAR, May 30: The indefinite hunger strike of the National Youth Corps (NYC) volunteers today took a new turn as 10 NYC volunteers were shifted to the hospital as they fell unconscious during the hunger strike.
On the third day of the hunger strike condition of 10 NYC volunteers deteriorated and they were shifted to SMHS hospital here for treatment. These volunteers fell unconscious and were rushed to hospital.
National Youth Corps Volunteers Association (NYCVA) president, Mudasir Hassan while expressing his disappointment over the incident said that the State Government is quite insensitive towards their problems. He said nobody from the Council of Ministers or Chief Minister’s secretariat has turned up to listen to their genuine problems.
“Today is third day of our hunger strike, but it seems Government is in slumber. They want us to come on streets and launch an agitation. If the pathetic attitude continues like this then we would come out and raise strong protests in support of our demands. We would not be responsible for the consequences thereof and the whole blame would lie on the State Government,” said Mudasir.
Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner-Srinagar today visited the volunteers and assured them that their demands would be carried forward to Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Baseer Khan.
