10 pedestrians hurt as car over runs

KATHUA, June 27: At least ten persons including three children were injured after a car kit them at Lagate Morh on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway this morning.
Reports said the mishap took place when one Sanjeev Gupta (25), son of Gopal Dass of Lakhanpur was going to deliver wedding cards towards Jammu in his car bearing registration No. PB06E/ 1321. When he reached at Lagate Morh, the un-controlled vehicle ran over nearly ten pedestrians and then hit against a tree.
The car driver and nine other persons were injured in the mishap. All the injured were removed to Kathua hospital. The car driver was also given thrashing by the locals. Out then ten, four seriously injured were referred to GMC hospital Jammu.
The injured were identified as Surjit, son of Baldev of Prithi Chak, Kathua, Kamlesh Kumari, wife of Avtar Krishan of Lagate, Neelam Kumari, wife of Yogesh of Madhopur, Shiv Parsad, his wife Bhagwati, his three children and another unknown minor child. The police registered a case against car driver and took him into custody.
