10 violators challaned for unhygienic, insanitary conditions

JAMMU, Oct 2: To make sure that safe, healthy and hygiene food is being served or sold to the customers in Jammu, Food Safety Wing of Food and Drugs Administration Jammu conducted a special drive during the ongoing holy Navratras.
The drive was led by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Jammu along with Food Safety Officers with special focus to lift the samples of fast food items.
The team lifted 21 samples including milk and milk products and sent to the Food Testing Laboratory Jammu for detection of adulteration. Moreover, 17 samples of milk have already been lifted, whose analytical reports are awaited.
Further, 10 violators were challaned for unhygienic and insanitary conditions in cooking/processing areas of their shops.
The team of Food Safety Officers including Daleep Singh, Hans Raj Andotra, Ajay Khajuria has also aware the shopkeepers especially situation outside the Temples such as Raghunath temple, Doodhadhari Temple at Shastri Nagar and Maha Lakshmi Temple at Gandhi Nagar. They were asked to maintain proper sanitation and hygienic conditions.
The team appealed to the food business operators to follow the norms of FSSA 2006 to provide good quality and healthy food to the customers.
