KATRA, June 26: In a shocking incident, a 10-year old girl was allegedly raped in Kakriyal area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Katra.
Acting swiftly on complaint of father of the victim, Police arrested the alleged rapist, who has been identified as Suneel Kumar, son of Gian Chand of Kandyar. He has been booked under POCSO Act and section 376 of IPC.
According to Police, the victim was alleged molested and raped by the accused when she had gone to fetch water from a nearby source. Finding the girl alone, the accused molested the victim and then raped her.
A written complaint in this regard was lodged by father of the victim following which a case FIR number 112/2021, under section 376 IPC, 4 POCSO Act was registered in Police Station Katra.
Team of Police Post Kakriyal swung into action and arrested the accused within few hours of the commission and reporting of the crime.
Medical of the victim was also got conducted through a board of doctors on the same day. Besides, statement of the victim has been recorded under section 164 CrPC, before the Judicial Magistrate Reasi and further investigation of the case is going on.
Sensing gravity of the offence, SSP Reasi Shailender Singh has constituted a special team headed by a lady Sub Inspector Kusum Sulakhiya, incharge of Women Cell of Police Station Reasi, with the directions to investigate the case on merits at the earliest.
