LUCKNOW, Jan 27: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Saturday announced that 100 new biogas plants will soon be set up in Uttar Pradesh.
Talking to the reporters before the inauguration ceremony of the compressed biogas plant in Badaun, the Union Minister said, “Today, a new compressed biogas plant is going to be inaugurated in Badaun district and the foundation stone of new compressed bio gas plants will also be laid in 8 other districts of the state.
So far, the process of land selection for setting up 37 plants has been completed. For this, we are getting huge support from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.”
He said that under the leadership of CM Yogi, UP has moved beyond the category of a sick state and has done excellent work in every sector in the last seven years.
Discussing the features of the plant that is going to be inaugurated in Badaun, Puri said that this plant, developed in 50 acres with an investment of about Rs 135 crore, will produce about 14 ton of compressed biogas every day.
“This biogas is also very useful for the diagnosis of stubble,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Yogi said that biogas is the best option as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Waste to Wealth’.
“This is not only a solution to the problem of smog in the National Capital Region (NCR) but also a medium to increase the income of farmers,” he said.
Petroleum Secretary Pankaj Jain gave information about the incentives being given by the Union Government for the setting up of compressed biogas plants.
Praising the bio fuel policy of the UP Government, he said that under the bio fuel policy of UP, there is a provision of giving a grant of up to Rs 20 crore for the establishment of bio energy plants. (UNI)
