JAMMU, May 21: A meeting was held today in the office chamber of V.K Singh, Director General of Police-cum-Commandant General Homeguards/Civil Defence & SDRF J&K, with regard to deployment of SDRF personnel for Covid-19 duties in Jammu region.
Dr. Raghav Langer, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Nisha Nathyal (Commandant SDRF 2nd Bn Jammu; Mohammad Shabir, SO to Commandant General: Ghanshyam Singh, ADC Jammu; Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Dy. Director Health Jammu; Ashwani Kumar Khajuria, Administrator Associate Hospital Jammu; Naresh Kumar, OSD Gandhi Nagar Hospital Jammu; Manoj Kumar Thakur, OSD GMC Jammu; Rakesh Kumar Gupta, OSD CD Hospital Jammu; and Dr. Narinder, Incharge MS DRDO Hospital Bhagwati Nagar Jammu, attended the meeting.
During the meeting, it was decided that Health Department will impart training to 100 SDRF personnel in three batches for Covid duties.
The SDRF personnel will regulate inflow/outflow of patients and relatives, assist in housekeeping and handling of oxygen concentrators etc.
After training the manpower will be deployed primarily at GMC Bakshi Nagar, Jammu; Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar; Jammu and Govt. Chest Disease Hospital, Jammu.
In addition, the trained manpower will also be deployed for duties at DRDO Hospital, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, as and when it becomes operational.
After the meeting, in the Directorate with Divisional Commissioner Jammu and other officers, Commandant General along with Commandant SDRF 2nd Bn Jammu visited Government, Medical College Jammu and held meeting with Dr. Shashi Sudan, Principal GMC Jammu and Dr Rakesh Behl, Associate Professor. It was decided that basic training for Covid duty would be provided to SDRF personnel at GMC Jammu from May 25, 2021. Professor Rakesh Behl would be the nodal officer for the said training.
Earlier, V.K Singh visited Headquarters SDRF 2nd Bn Jammu and briefed all ranks of the plan to train 100 SDRF personnel for Covid duties for further deployment along with PPE on such duties.
