1032 bottles whisky seized

KATHUA, Apr 29: The police seized large quantity of liquor near Lakhanpur which was being illegally transported in a mini-truck to J&K despite lockdown.
Official sources said that during regular checking at new bridge Lakhanpur, a Kathua police party intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK02BK/3586 coming from Punjab towards Jammu at around 3 am.
During physical checking of the vehicle, police found 1032 bottles of Punjab based English whisky in 86 cardboard cartons which were recovered and seized on the spot. Two persons namely Romesh Sharma, son of Mohan Lal, resident of Eidgaha Road, Jammu and Zaboor Ahmed, son of Noor Hussain from Rangoora in Jammu were arrested.
An FIR under Excise Act was registered against them at Police Station, Lakhanpur. Further, investigation was in progress.
