College fails to submit result to JU

KATHUA, Oct 25: The career of 105 students of 5th Semester Sociology of Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua has been put into jeopardy by the college which has failed to furnish the result of these hapless students to the Jammu University by stipulated time due to which the varsity was left with no option but to declare all the students as fail in the subject while declaring the result recently.
All 105 students of Government Degree College, Kathua were declared fail in Sociology Subject for no fault of theirs the results of which were declared by Jammu University on October 18. As per the hapless students, this all happened after the incharge of the Sociology Subject of the College had failed to submit the result to Jammu University in the stipulated time due to which the University declared all the 105 students fail in the subject while making the result of the fifth semester out.
The students said they had appeared in the examination over four months back and the result was declared recently and all the 105 students were shocked to know that they all have been declared fail in the subject. When they contacted college and University authorities they were told that their result has not reached the University and it was left with no option but to declare all the students fail.
However, the parents of these students also accused the Examination Department of the University that how did it (Department) frame the result without taking the result of these 105 students into consideration and why did not the college was reprimanded and forced to send the result of these students before the due date of the result to be declared by the University.
They said the College as well as the Examination Department of Jammu University is also responsible for this great lapse and both have played with the career of the students. The students said that they have already appeared in the sixth semester and result of the same is to be declared soon. But these hapless students are unable to appear in the Central University courses for which forms are to be submitted soon as their result of 5th Semester of Sociology is still awaited.
However, the Principal of Degree College Kathua said that the delay in submission of result to University has been due to some technical reasons. She said the result has now been sent to University but due to gazetted holidays in last week it was delayed. She said she is fully abreast with the issue and will take up the matter with Controller of Examination of Jammu University and expressed the hope that the result will be declared within days along with the result of sixth semester the examination of which was also held recently.
She said the college authorities are also concerned about the issue and they don’t want that the students should suffer and they want to sort out the matter without further delay.
But the official spokesman of Jammu University said that the delay was on the part of the College and despite giving umpteen reminders they did not send the result sheet in stipulated time. Spokesman said the University could not afford to delay the result of 10,000 students just for the negligence of one College.
