JAMMU, Mar 12: Police today claimed to have arrested the 10th accused in the murder case of one Sumit Jandyal alias Gataru in Jewel Chowk area of the district on January 21, this year.
Yudhvir Singh of Mandi Sangwali, Samba was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, Delhi soon after he land from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, a police official said.
He said that arrest was made by a team of Nowabad Police Station led by Inspector Deepak Pathania, incharge of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the case, with assistance from Inspector Varuneshwar Singh, and PSI Anoop Kumar under close supervision of DySP PC, SP Operations Jammu and SSP Jammu.
Quoting the investigation part, the police official said it has come to fore that Yudhvir played a crucial role in the conspiracy, transferring funds into multiple accounts linked to the accused before the murder.
These transactions were used to purchase an Alto car just a week prior to the crime, a vehicle that was later instrumental in the execution of Jandyal’s murder.
Pertinently, the murder case, registered under FIR number 14/2025 at Police Station Nowabad, includes charges under sections 103(1), 3(5), 49, 111(2)(a) of the BNS and sections 3/4/25 of the Arms Act.
With the latest arrest, police have further tightened the noose around all individuals involved in the conspiracy, leaving little room for those still under investigation to evade the law.
