UDHAMPUR, Apr 24: Police today seized over 11.65 kg of poppy straw (bhukki), which was being smuggled in a truck.
The truck was intercepted during a naka near Kud on the National Highway. Police seized the truck and also arrested its driver, namely Mohd Arbi of Majakote, Rajouri.
Reports said that acting on a specific input, a police team led by SHO Kud, laid a surprise naka on the National Highway and intercepted the truck bearing registration number JK02AW-8335. Even as the truck driver tried to flee from the spot, he was immediately nabbed and arrested by Police party.
During through search of the said Truck, 11.65 Kg poppy straw was recovered.
In this connection, a case under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kud and further investigation of the case is going on.
