RAJOURI, Sept 25: Rajouri police today arrested eleven drivers for violation of norms and endangering human lives by indulging in over-loading of passengers. The vehicles were also seized.
The FIRs in this connection have been registered at Darhal, Thannamandi and Nowshera Police Stations.
A senior police official said that a team of police headed by SHO Darhal, Habib Pathan under the supervision of SDPO Thannamandi Iftikar Chowdhary was on routine checking for action against violation of traffic norms during which four vehicles were found heavily overloaded. FIRs have been registered and vehicles also seized.
Drivers booked include- Mohd Saleem, son of Wazir Mohd, resident of Khoriwali Darhal driving Magic Auto JK11A 5408, Shiraz Ahmed, son of Mohd Mushtaq, resident of Budh Khanari, driving Magic Auto 3355, Imtiyaz Ahmed, son of Mohd Rafiq Malik, resident of Thanamang driving tempo JK11/ 4358 and driver Mohd Saleem, son of Abdul Majeed, resident of Thanamang driving tempo JK11A/ 3283.
Another police team headed by SDPO Thanamandi Iftikar Chowdhary and SHO Thanamandi Nazir Dar were on routine patrolling on Thanamandi Rajouri road when six overloaded vehicles were intercepted.
Vehicles found overloaded include Canter JK11/ 2516 driven by Mohd Younis, son of Abdul Khaliq resident of Behrote, Minibus JK12/ 1590 driven by Shakoor Samyal, son of Nayamat Ullah, resident of Rajdhani, Tata Sumo JK11/ 6233 driven by Shokat Hussain, son of Said Mohd, resident of Kote Behrote, Tata Sumo JK11A/ 1424 driven by Mohd Ashfaq Khan, son of Mohd Azam resident of Hasplote, Tavera JK11A/ 1965 driven by Nasser Ahmed Bajjar, son of Maneer Hussain, Tavera JK02AW 2161 driven by Maroof Khan, son of Mehmood Khan, resident of Roop Nagar Jammu.
In this regard case FIR numbers 173, 174, 175, 176, 177 and 178/ 2018 have been registered in Police Station Thanamandi under relevant sections and all the drivers mentioned above have been arrested.
Similarly, a police team headed by SHO Nowshera Romal Singh under the supervision of SDPO Nowshera Khaliq Hussain intercepted a matador bearing registration No JK11-1979, which was on way from Bareri to Nowshera driven by driver Rakesh Kumar, son of Des Raj, resident of Kalal, Nowshera, He was carrying more than 20 passengers extra beyond the capacity of the vehicle with passengers were even sitting and hanging from roof and stairs of vehicle respectively. In this connection, a case FIR NO.196/18 was registered in the Police Station Nowshera and the driver was arrested on spot and vehicle also seized.
