11 hurt as Tata Sumo falls into gorge in Mendhar

POONCH, June 12: Eleven passengers sustained injuries after a Tata Sumo vehicle they were on board, rolled down into a deep gorge in Mendhar Sub Division of Poonch district today.

Reports said that a Tata Sumo vehicle bearing Registration Number JK12- 3051, coming from Surankote to Mendhar, skidded off the road and landed into Gursai nallah, resulting in the injuries to eleven passengers.
After the incident, the injured persons were evacuated from the site by the locals and taken to Sub District Hospital Mendhar for treatment. The police party also joined them.
Injured were identified as Asia Kouser, wife of Nazakat Hussain (28), resident of Kotan along with her minor child; Muzaffar Iqbal, son of Barkat Hussain (Driver) (26), resident of Gohlad, Kousr Bi , wife of Akbar Hussain (25) from Behra; Naseem Akhter, wife of Mohd Khursheed age (38) from Gunthal in Surankote with a minor child; Mohd Farooq, son of Noor Mohd (25) from Chhajjla; Kalu, son of Ali Mohd (33) from Shopian; Niyaz Ali, son of Mohd Khursheed (25), resident of Dharana; Asia Sarfraz, daughter of Sarfraz Ahmed (18), resident of Harni; Mohd Akram, son of Hassan Mohd from Mandi- a CRPF jawan posted in Mendhar. All are admitted to SDH Mendhar.
BMO Mendhar, Dr Ashfaq Ahmad said that few of the injured persons have been referred to GMC Rajouri for preferential treatment.
An FIR number 60/2023 under Section 279/337 IPC has been registered in Gursar Police station in this regard for further investigations going on.
