Over 11546 kanals land allotted for establishment of IEs

JAMMU, Mar 19: Eleven non-J&K residents were allotted 2093 kanals of land for investments in different Industrial Estates in Kathua, Jammu, and Srinagar districts in the last two years by the UT Government.

However, one of them, Muthiah Muralitharan, the ace Sri Lankan cricketer, has surrendered the 206 kanals of land allotted to him at Bhagthali-II Industrial Estate in Kathua district for the establishment of a beverages can manufacturing unit.
This information was shared by Surinder Choudhary, Minister incharge Industries and Commerce Department, in the Legislative Assembly today in reply to a starred question of PDP legislator Waheed ur Rehman Parra.
The Minister further informed the Assembly that over 11, 546 kanals of the land, with over 6014 kanals in Jammu division and over 5532 kanals in Kashmir division, was transferred to the Industries and Commerce Department for setting up of new Industrial Estates in the region.
As per Minister Surinder Choudhary’s reply, those who were allotted land in Bhagthali-I and Bhagthali-II Industrial Estates in Kathua and Medicity, Sempora, Industrial Estate in Srinagar include one Riju Jhunjhunwala of Delhi, who was allotted 275 kanals of UT land at Bhagthali-I, Brij Mohan Dev Kindan Chiripal of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, who was allotted 222 and 424 kanals of the land at Bhagthali-I, Ankur Bansal of Pitampura, New Delhi, who was allotted 402 kanals of land at Bhagthali-II, Manohar Lal Aggarwal, who was allotted 201 kanals of UT land at Bhagthali-II, Chirag Goenka of Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat, who was allotted 209 Kanals of land at Bhagthali-II, Muthiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka, who was allotted 206 kanals of land at Bhagthali-II for a unit named M/s Ceylon Beverages Can Pvt Ltd, and Nikhil Nada of Badarpur, Delhi, who was allotted 130 kanals of land at Medicity, Sempora, Srinagar, under the name of unit M/S Megna Waves Buildtech Pvt Ltd (EMAAR Group UAE).
Nikhil Nada was also allotted 24 kanals of UT land at Exhibition Ground in Jammu under the name of M/S Megna Waves Buildtech Pvt Ltd (EMAAR Group UAE) unit.
In reply to another question of the PDP legislator regarding the total land transferred to multiple Industrial Estates during the last two years in Jammu province, the Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the charge of Industries and Commerce Department, replied that in Kathua, Samba, Reasi, Poonch, and Kishtwar districts, 6014 kanals and 10 Marlas of the land has been transferred to the industrial estates.
“No land area/patch has been transferred to public and private authorities other than for establishment of industrial estates (public purpose) during the last two years,” he said.
In Kashmir province, the Minister Incharge, Industries and Commerce Department, Surinder Choudhary said total 5532 kanals and 19 marlas of land in Anantnag, Bandipora, Baramulla, Budgam, Kupwara, Pulwama, and Shopian districts, has been transferred to the Industrial Estates during the last two years.
