Srinagar, Mar 10: Eleven Pakistani nationals have taken shelter in an Army post near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of North Kashmir after a land slide blocked Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road near Red bridge this evening.
Brigade Commander of Uri based 12 Brigade, Brigadier R K Singh told Excelsior that 16 passengers travelling in Srinagar-Muzaffarabad Karvan-e-Aman bus got stuck near Red bridge this evening after a landslide triggered by heavy rains blocked the road.
Singh said that army has a small post near the bridge where these 16 passengers including 11 Pakistani nationals have been provided shelter for the night.
Brigade Commander said that it was risky for these passengers to move ahead and the district administration sought Army’s assistance. He said that Army provided them blankets, food and shelter at the post and are looking after them.
Singh said that these passengers will be allowed to proceed to Srinagar tomorrow after the road is cleared of the land slide.
However, the bus carrying passengers from Srinagar to Muzaffarabad plied normally.
