11 persons arrested with illicit liquor

JAMMU, May 28: Police arrested 11 persons along with illicit liquor in Jammu, Reasi and Rajouri districts.
As per police sources, on reliable information a team from Police Station Bahu Fort led by SHO Inspector Deepak Pathania under the supervision of SDPO East Bikram Kumar laid a naka and asked a person to stop as he was moving suspiciously.
On seeing police cops, the person tried to escape from the spot, but the cops chased and intercepted him.
During checking, police team recovered 28 bottles of illicit liquor and arrested the person, who was identified as Raj Kumar, son of Krishan Chand of Nai Basti Gandhi Nagar District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 201/2021 under Section 48 (a) Excise Act has been at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Ransoo arrested three bootleggers identified as Ashwani Verma, son of Anant Verma of Ransoo, Ashok Singh, son of Munshi Ram of Sangar and Krishan Singh, son of Kallu Ram of Talwara at present Ransoo.
In another similar case, a team from Police Station Pouni arrested a bootlegger identified as Susheel Sharma, son of Kurko Ram of Kothian Pouni alongwith 3 litres of Hooch.
A team from Police Station Reasi arrested a bootlegger namely Rakesh Singh, son of Karam Chand of Kaithi Thuroo who was transporting illicit liquor to Talwara area.
In total, 4 FIRs under Excise Act were registered at Police Stations Ransoo, Pouni and Reasi in last 72 hours, seized 10 litres of illicit liquor and destroyed one manufacturing unit and 10 litres of lahan.
In three more similar cases, Sunderbani, Nowshera and Teryath Police arrested five persons along with 27 litres illicit liquor and 400 litres lahan.
The arrested persons were identified as Vikas Sharma, son of Ramesh Lal and Puran Chand, son of Mulkh Raj, both residents of Hathal, Tajinder Singh, son of Jasbir Singh, a resident of Nonial District Rajouri and Chambail Singh, son of Makhan Singh, a resident of Taran District Reasi and Karnail Singh, son of Inder Singh, a resident of District Reasi.
Cases against the arrested persons were registered at Police Stations Sunderbani, Nowshera and Dharamsal.
