Woman dies in Srinagar, tally 88

Srinagar, June 24: At least 11 police and para-military men were among 163 people who tested positive for Coronavirus in Kashmir today, taking number of the COVID-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 6422 while one person died in Kashmir taking death toll in J&K to 88.
A 48- year old COVID-19 positive woman from Baghat Barzulla area of Srinagar passed away at SKIMS Soura today taking overall death toll in J&K to 88.
She was admitted to SKIMS on June 17 and passed away at the hospital this morning. She was suffering from Fungal Pneumonia besides other ailments.
So far, 88 COVID-19 positive people have died in J&K including 10 from Jammu and 78 from the Valley.
Srinagar district with 21 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by Baramulla 13, Kulgam 11, Shopian 10, Jammu 7, six each in Budgam and Anantnag, Kupwara 5, Pulwama 4 while one death each has been reported from Bandipora, Doda, Udhampur and Rajouri.
Among the fresh COVID-19 positive cases, at least 80 were confirmed at SKIMS Soura, 64 at CD and 19 at SKIMS Bemina.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, Dr Farooq Jan, told Excelsior that 3379 samples were processed at the Viral Diagnostic Lab today and 80 tested positive for the virus. They include 42 from Shopian, 17 from Pulwama, 8 in Anantnag, 4 in Srinagar, 3 from CRPF Batallions, 2 from Bandipora and one each from Ganderbal, Kupwara, Baramulla and Budgam.
The CRPF cases include three men from 44 battalion of CRPF based at HMT Srinagar and six police men including two from DPL Pulwama and four men from DPL Awantipora.
Principal SKIMS Medical College Bemina, Dr Riyaz Untoo, told Excelsior that out of 580 samples processed at the hospital’s lab, 19 tested positive for COVID-19. Among this 278 samples from Srinagar were processed out of which 19 tested positive and from Budgam 302 samples were processed and 70 reports are awaited and others tested negative.
An official said that 1173 samples were processed at the CD hospital Srinagar laboratory and 64 tested positive. They include a doctor at GB Pant hospital, BSF soldier from 102 battalion based at Trehgam and a cop from DPL Ganderbal.
Authorities in Pulwama district today ordered complete closure of Rahmoo village in the district after a large number of COVID positive cases were reported. Authorities completely sealed Rahmoo village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district and asked the general public to keep the market and other business units shut for at least 10 days as 23 new cases of Coronavirus cases were reported in the village.
A team of officials led by Tehsildar Rajpora Raqib Ahmed visited the village and seized three shops and two band sawmills for violating lockdown norms. The district administration has ordered the closure of banks and Khidmat Centres too in Rahmoo village.
