11 trainee judges sacked in UP

LUCKNOW, Sept 21:
Uttar Pradesh Governmnent has sacked 11 trainee judges, on the recommendation of the Allahabad High Court, for misbehaving with a fellow lady trainee judge and later indulged in unruly and unethical behaviour at public place early this month.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav approved the sacking of the trainee judges here late last night and the order was issued by the State Appointment Department thereafter, official sources here today said.
Earlier the matter was sent to the State governor Ram Naik, but he refused to look into the matter saying that it is the discretion of the State Government.
On September 16, a full bench of the Allahabad High Court had recommended the sacking of the 11 trainee judges ‘These trainee judges are not fit for becoming judges ,’ the recommendation of the HC said.
These trainee judges were selected through state judicial services exam 2012.
Allegation against them is that during there recent training exercise in Lucknow they misbehaved with a fellow lady trainee judge and later indulged in unruly and unethical behavior at public place.
The victim lady judge has also complaint about her harassment. The sacked trainee judges are expected to move the Supreme Court against the UP government’s move.
Following the complaint of the victim, the High Court had set up a high level judges committee which handed over its report to its administrative panel.
According to a preliminary report, 40 trainee judges were said to be involved in misbehaving with the woman and creating ruckus after consuming liquor in the party held at a local restaurant in the state capital.
Chief Justice of the High Court D V Chandchud, along with nine other senior judges, were in the committee and they recommended suspension of 20 judges in their preliminary report. The recommendation was made after watching the CCTV recording of the entire incident.
The administrative committee later on September 16,made the recommendation for dismissal from service against 11 of the 20 judges.
According to the victim, the incident occurred on September 7, on the eve of completion of their training at the Judicial Training and Research Institute,(JTRI)in Lucknow. Altogether 74 trainee judges of 2012 batch were undergoing the induction programme at the JTRI, which included judges of 40 districts of the state. The induction programme started on June 9 and ended on September 8.Among the 74 trainee judges, 22 were women.
The trainee judges included additional civil judge, civil judge junior division and judicial magistrate. The Allahabad High Court had also transferred three additional directors of the JTRI with immediate effect. The court has also appointed Mahboob Ali as the new Director of the JRTI. (UNI)
