Over 11,000 pilgrims perform darshan at holy cave

JAMMU, July 10: Over 11,000 pilgrims performed darshan of ice lingam at holy cave of Swami Amarnath on day 13th of yatra today.
According to an official spokesman, 11,809 pilgrims performed darshan at cave shrine from both the tracks of Baltal and Chandanwari. He said with this the total number of pilgrims paying obeisance in holy cave since 45 day long yatra started on June 28 has touched 1,67,644.
He said the weather to holy cave was pleasant today and this allowed the hassle free movement of pilgrims from Nunwan and Baltal camps towards the holy cave.
He said one pilgrim identified as Suresh Bhai Sangram of Gujarat died early this morning at Brari Marg due to cardiac arrest. With this the total number of pilgrims who died during the ongoing yatra has mounted to 17. One pilgrim had died at late last night near holy cave, he added.
He said 6748 pilgrims left from Baltal to holy cave for darshan this morning while 6309 left via Nunwan base camp.
The spokesman said out of 1, 67,000 pilgrims performing darshan in cave shrine so far 1,55,000 pilgrims had returned to Winter Capital while the rest were on their way.
He said a fresh batch of 2,508 pilgrims including 1777 male, 498 female192 Sadhus and 45 children left for darshan of holy cave from Jammu Yatri Niwas early this morning under tight security. All these yatris had reached  Nunwan base camp and Manigam camp late tonight where from they will leave for holy cave early tomorrow morning.
