JAMMU, Oct 21: One hundred eleven fresh cases of dengue were reported today from various parts of Jammu and Kashmir, taking the total number of cases so far this year to 4170.
A Health official said that 73 cases were reported today from Jammu district alone while 8 cases each were reported from Udhampur and Kathua districts, 7 from Samba, 6 from Doda, 3 cases each from Rajouri and Kishtwar, 1 from Reasi and 2 cases from outside J&K. The positive patients include 98 adults and 13 children, he added.
He said maximum 2765 cases reported so far are a from Jammu district followed by Udhampur district with 513 cases, Kathua with 331 cases and Samba with 271 cases. “There were 77 cases in Rajouri, 45 in Ramban, 42 in Reasi, 36 in Doda, 25 in Poonch, 7 in Kishtwar, 22 in Kashmir and 32 from other parts of the country,” the official said.
The official further informed that a total of 1334 dengue patients have been admitted to the hospitals till date and of these, 1206 have been discharged and 92 patients are still under treatment while as dengue has claimed four lives so far this season.
“The dengue cases are rising with each day,” the official said, and advised that citizens should ensure no stagnation of water in and around their houses as mosquitoes responsible for dengue breed in stagnant water.
