SRINAGAR, June 2: Kashmir today reported 1133 COVID positive cases while 17 people succumbed to the virus taking the death toll to 3963 in J&K.
Those who tested positive include 320 from Srinagar, 102 from Baramulla, 137 from Budgam, 158 from Pulwama, 90 from Kupwara, 103 from Anantnag, 62 from Bandipora, 53 from Ganderbal, 81 from Kulgam and 27 from Shopian.
As per officials figures, 65,787 positive cases including 781 deaths and 61,135 recoveries are from Srinagar, 21,590 including 261 deaths and 18,948 recoveries are from Baramulla, 20,554 including 18,496 recoveries and 180 deaths are from Budgam, 13,399 including 11,062 recoveries and 171 deaths are from Pulwama, 12,268 including 147 deaths and 10,346 recoveries are from Kupwara, 14,741 including 11,032 recoveries and 167 deaths are from Anantnag, 8,551 cases including 7,653 and 94 deaths are from Bandipora, 8,858 including 7,644 recoveries and 69 deaths are from Ganderbal, 10,024 including 8,488 recoveries and 106 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,361 including 4,199 recoveries and 55 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of positive cases in Kashmir division has reached 181,133 including 159,003 recoveries and 2,031 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 31,579 including 20,099 from Kashmir division.
With 3,391 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 258,536, which is 87.91 percent of the total cases.
In the meantime, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammed Aijaz Asad today said that strict adherence to the COVID-19 SOPs and vaccination of vulnerable and targeted population is imperative to minimize the infection of Coronavirus.
He said the district Administration is working very hard in fighting Covid-19 pandemic and people of the district have extended their cooperation due to which visible decline has been witnessed during past few days.
He said though they have seen a visible decline in COVID positive cases but they have to follow COVID Appropriate Behaviour with more responsibility to make entry into Green Zone. He added that any laxity on COVID SOPs can prove harmful. He urged the left out population of Srinagar to get vaccinated as soon as possible to break the chain of coronavirus.
With regard to opening of markets, the DC said that with decline in Covid positivity rate, guidelines have been issued as per the directions of the State Executive Council and people particularly all business establishments/operators must follow the same to contain the spread of COVID-19 infection.
Talking about the ongoing vaccination process, the DC said as many as 2.60 lakh targeted population has been vaccinated so far and concerted efforts are being made to speed up the inoculation drive across the district.
He urged the people to come forward and get vaccinated which is safest way to get protection and help break the chain of Coronavirus spread. The DC further said that the Srinagar administration has issued roaster for opening of shops on rational basis to avoid large crowds in the market.
He also urged general public to adopt social distancing, wearing proper mask, and maintaining hand hygiene to keep them, their family and whole Srinagar City safe from COVID-19 infection.
