12 bovines rescued, 7 held

JAMMU, Oct 9: Police today rescued 12 bovine animals and arrested 7 smugglers.
A police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Domana Police Station led by SHO Vijay Choudhary under the supervision of SDPO Sandeep Mehta laid a naka at Nagbani and intercepted a Tata mobile vehicle bearing registration numbers JK14C-0887.
During search, police recovered 4 bovine animals which were being transported illegally from Jammu to Poonch and arrested one smuggler, who has been identified as Abdul Qayoom, son of Mohammad Sharief of Udhampur.
A case under FIR number 361/13 and under Section 188 RPC has been registered at Domana Police Station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, Officiating SSP Reasi Mohammad Sharief Choudhan told that 8 bovine animals were rescued and 6 smugglers were arrested in three different incidents during the past 24 hours.
He said that the accused were trying to smuggle the bovines to Kashmir from Reasi via Mahore, but their bid was foiled by the police.
The smugglers have been identified as Mohammad Basher, son of Abdul Rashid of Bhallar, Mohammad Iqbal, son of Mohammad Ismail of Tuli, teshil Mahore, Rashid Ahmed, son of Yaqoob of Ghari, Mushtaq Ali, son of Ghulam Ali, Thuru, Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Abdul Gani of Bidda and Mushtaq Ahmed of Dharmari, Mahore, he added.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered and investigation started.
