SAMBA, June 30 : Under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Samba, Benam Tosh, police has achieved a major success in intensive drive against thieves by arresting 12 hardcore thieves including one employee of Jal Shakti Department and recovering stolen property worth over three lakh from them.
Police said the arrested hardcore thieves were involved in several theft cases in Samba district and civilized people were scared of their theft-committing acts at night hours as well as during broad daylight. Police conducted thorough investigation and registered cases of thefts and achieved a major breakthrough. All 12 thieves have been arrested and some more arrests are likely as investigation is underway.
Three theft cases have been solved with these arrests. Two vehicles used for committing theft have also been seized by police.
The arrested hardcore thieves have been identified as Umesh Pangotra (who is an employee of Jal Shakti Department) son of Chander Mohan of Gobind Puli Vijaypur, Rahul Manjotra alias Lalli son of Baljeet Kumar of Ward No-6, Vijaypur, Sawan Manjotra son of Tejinder Manjotra of Ward No-4 Vijaypur, Randeep Singh alias Rinku son of Kuldeep Singh of Barian, Samba, Manish Khajuria son of Mahesh Raj of Bara, Samba, Varinder Sharma alias Bantu son of Om Parkash of Utterbehni, Shail Massi son of Rafiq Massi of W.No.7 near Shiv Mandir, Bishnah, district Jammu, Anooj Negi, son of Kuldeep Singh Negi of Dhivivya Vihar, Rajive Nagar Dehradun, A/P Teli Basti, Bari Brahmana, Irshad Ahmed son of Mohammad Saleem of W.No 8, Teli Basti, Bari Brahmana, Mehboob Akhter son of Shamas Din of Dodla tehsil Basohli district Kathua at present Teli Basti, Bari Brahmana, Alex Matoo son of Kenny Matoo of Teli Basti, Bari Brahmana and Joginder Paul son of Kenthu Ram Sharma of Ward No-13 Samba.
While seven thieves have been arrested by in charge Police Post (PP), Supwal, PSI Deepika Jalotra, two thieves have been arrested by SHO Police Station, Bari Brahmana Sunil Sharma and three thieves have been arrested by SHO Police Station, Samba, Rajeshwar Singh. The investigations are being conducted in highly professional manner by the teams of investigating officers under the supervision of SDPO Bari Brahmana Rahul Nagar, DySP PC Samba Garu Ram and Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh said that this is the major success of police against hardcore thieves in Samba district. He said that 98 thieves have been arrested by Samba Police in past five months and 49 theft cases have been solved.
