JAMMU, Oct 7: Dr Balvinder Singh, Orthopaedician at District Hospital Udhampur, successfully performed hip replacement surgery on a 70-year-old man in the Hospital, who started walking only after 12 hours of the surgery.
“Ram Singh from Surinser (Mansar) had hip joint disease (AVN of femoral head) in right hip for last one year because of which he was unable to walk properly. He consulted doctors of various private hospitals but the cost of surgery there was very high and he couldn’t afford it.
Meanwhile, Ram Singh came to know that all world class Orthopaedics surgeries are being conducted in District Hospital Udhampur by German trained Orthopaedician, Dr Balvinder Singh, Consultant Orthopaedics.
The patient visited the District Hospital and consulted Dr Balvinder. Accordingly, he was admitted in the Hospital and after properly investigation, got operated for hip replacement by Dr Balvinder, who was assisted by Anesthesist, Dr Pawan, Theater Assistants Rajinder and Mukesh. The surgery was so successful that the patient started walking only after 12 hours of undergoing surgery.
Pertinent to mention here that such surgeries have not been done in any District Hospital of the State except Udhampur district, where such surgeries have become a routine. In last few years, Dr Balvinder has performed numerous such surgeries successfully.
