UDHAMPUR, Dec 16: In a major success, Udhampur Police today arrested four narcotic smugglers from Tikri area and seized 120 kg of poppy straw from their possession
Acting on reliable information, a police party from Police Station Rehambal, led by Inspector Paramjeet Singh and IC PP Tikri SI Vishal Dogra, laid a naka at Tikri and intercepted a Tata Mobile JK14B-7232.
During thorough search, 120 kg poppy straw was found hidden in a false compartment. Police seized the poppy straw along with the vehicle and also arrested the accused smugglers, who were identified as driver Yawar Ganai, son of Ab Ahad Ganai of Kulgam and Tariq Ahmed, son of Mohd Shaban Malla of Kulgam. On disclosure of both the accused, Police also were arrested two local customers for whom the consignment was dispatched. They have been identified as Narinder Singh son of Shanker Singh of Karali Sukki Udhampur and Nand Kishore son of Bishan Dutt of Jaganoo Udhampur.
In this connection, a case FIR number 193/2018 u/s 8/15/29 under NDPS Act has been registered in PS Rehambal and further investigation of the case taken up.
