RAJOURI, Apr 19: Rajouri Police seized 1,200 kilograms of banned polythene bags during a routine check at Naka Point Thalka on the Jammu-Rajouri highway. A police team from Nowshera, led by SHO Inspector Arjun Magotra under the supervision of SDPO Sahil Mahajan and SSP Rajouri Gaurav Shivarkar, intercepted a Mahindra Bolero (JK02DL-0708) coming from Jammu.
As per reports the vehicle was found carrying 48 plastic sacks, each containing 25 kg of banned polythene bags, totaling 1,200 kg. The driver, Deepak Gupta of Muthi, Jammu and his associate, Rahul Vaid of Paloura (currently residing in Pacca Danga, Jammu), failed to provide valid documents for the consignment.
The illegal transport of the polythene bags was in violation of SRO 353 and the J&K Non-Biodegradable Material Management Handling and Disposal Act, 2007. The vehicle and goods were seized and the Rajouri Pollution Control Committee has been notified for further legal action.
