12000 BPL families to get free gas connections in Ramban

RAMBAN, Sept 9: The Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department (FCS&CAD) is going to provide 12000 free gas connections to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) families under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana(PMUY) scheme.
The information was given at a meeting convened to discuss modalities for the implementation of the flagship scheme held here today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz. Representatives of oil companies also attended the meeting.
The Assistant Director Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department (FCS&CAD) gave a detailed resume of the progress made by the department and oil companies in this regard.
He said that 9000 applications have been received from the beneficiaries and the same are under process for online uploading.
The DC directed the concerned authorities to verify the list of beneficiaries according to the norms before finalizing their names for the scheme.
He asked the representatives of oil companies to work in coordination with the district administration and organize awareness camps to sensitize the stakeholders about the scheme and identification of the genuine beneficiaries who can be provided benefits of the scheme.
