121 kanal forest land retrieved from encroachers

JAMMU, Sept 7:  Continuing its drive, Forest Department has retrieved 121 kanals of Forest land from encroachers in Nowshera and Kishtwar divisions.
A team of Forest officials, headed by DFO Nowshera Dr Arshdeep Singh, retrieved about 105 kanals of forest land from the encroachers in Nowshera Forest Division while 16 kanal Forest land was retrieved in Kishtwar Division.
In Nowshera Range, the operation was led by Range Forest Officer, Sudesh Choudhary and 80 kanals forest land was retrieved from the occupation of six encroachers in Comptt. Nos. 60/N & 75/N of Pandhar (Laroka) and Kanara area of Nowshera Range.
Another operation was carried out in Sunderbani Range where the Forest staff, led by Range officer Sunderbani, Vinod Sharma retrieved 25 kanals forest land from the occupation of four encroachers at Comptt. Nos. 60/D, 39/D & 115/D falling in Channi, Kallar and Margala area of Sunderbani Range.
The operation was coordinated by the Conservator of Forests, West Circle, Rajouri Sameer Bharti.
Further DFO Nowshera has ordered the fencing of retrieved area to prevent from being again encroached in future. Also, warning has been issued by the Forest Department to the persons involved against any such attempt in future.
Meanwhile, in a similar action, a team of Forest officials of Kishtwar Forest Division, led by Range Officer Kishtwar, removed encroachment of Forest land in Forest Compartment 53/K, 54 and 40/K during last couple of days and retrieved 16 kanals of Forest land.
The land was occupied illegally by locals for grazing and agriculture purpose using brush wood fencing and temporary stone walling, which were destroyed on the spot.
The entire operation was carried under direct supervision of M P Dogra, Conservator of Forests, Chenab Circle, Doda and Sunil Singh, Divisional Forest Officer, Kishtwar.
