1262 new recruits join BSF in Srinagar, Udhampur

SRINAGAR/UDHAMPUR, Nov 9: Nearly 1262 new recruits were inducted into the Border Security Force (BSF) during separate Passing out Parades (PoPs) held in Srinagar and Udhampur Districts today.

While 599 recruits joined the BSF at the Subsidiary Training Centre, Humhuma, in Srinagar, 663 were inducted into the force at STC Ground, BSF, Udhampur.
Among those who successfully completed their training at Subsidiary Training Centre, Humhuma, were recruits from Eastern and Southern India, with Odisha contributing 204, Andhra Pradesh 208, Kerala 112, and Telangana 75. Senior officers from the Army, police, and other security forces, along with Border Security Force personnel, witnessed the memorable parade alongside their families and the family members of the trainees, as well as the school children.
The Director General of the BSF, Nitin Agrawal, who was also the chief guest at the Srinagar Parade, wholeheartedly appreciated the excellent display of self-confidence, skills, and coordination-the high point of the parade. He applauded the recruits for choosing border security as a career option and exhorted them to serve the nation with courage and enthusiasm.
Agrawal congratulated Inspector General Frontier HQ BSF Kashmir and the instructional teams for successfully moulding the recruits into disciplined Jawans and instilling self-confidence as trained Seema Prahari.
A spokesperson for the BSF mentioned that over the 44 weeks of training, the recruits gained proficiency in handling various weapons, firing skills, law, drill, and border management. “The hard work of the trainers at STC BSF, Kashmir, significantly increased their physical efficiency, preparing them physically, mentally, and professionally to serve the nation in both peace and war. The recruits were also trained in field engineering, fieldcraft, tactics, anti-terrorist, counter-insurgence operations, law and order, and human rights,” he said.
Expressing happiness with the successful completion of their training and the opportunity to serve their country, recruits like Chandalpal Naik from Odisha and Mehar Kumar shared their excitement.
“I arrived here nine months ago and underwent rigorous training for 44 weeks. I had dreamt of this day, watching brave soldiers on TV participate in the passing-out parade. Now, it is my turn, and I am ready to serve on the borders,” Naik said.
Kumar, who was initially hesitant about joining the security forces, said that after becoming a full-fledged soldier, he was happy to protect and serve his country. “I want to warn our enemies that I am here now to eliminate them,” he said.
Amit Mehar, another recruit, said that becoming a soldier was a dream comes true. “Family and friends provided unwavering support. I am keen to serve my country. Becoming, a soldier was my childhood dream, and now it is a reality,” he said.
At STC BSF Parade in Udhampur District, P V Rama Sastry, Special Director General (Operations), BSF was the chief guest, who took the salute in the parade.
There, 663 recruit constables took the oath and dedicated themselves to the country. Rajesh Kumar Gurung, Inspector General of the Centre, welcomed the chief guest. The parade was commanded by recruit constable Kundan Singh.
On this occasion, P V Rama Sastry inspected the parade and addressed the newly passed out constables. He also awarded trophies to those recruits who excelled in various spheres during their basic training.
During the grand convocation ceremony, prominent citizens of Udhampur, local administration, Army, CAPF, BSF officials and their families, parents of passing out recruits were present. They encouraged the recruits by clapping their outstanding performance in the parade.
After the grand parade, impressive demonstrations on “Bolt Action” & “Lathi Khela” were performed. Students of Delhi Public School and Common Public Higher Secondary School, Udhampur presented cultural programme which was thoroughly enjoyed by the spectators.
