Srinagar, Feb 19: At least 13 cases of H1N1 are currently undergoing treatment at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura.
Earlier there were 16 cases out of which 2 were said to be critical. As per the hospital administration, 2-3 new cases have been admitted to the hospital during last couple of days, while as few have been discharged as well.
“At present, we have got 13 patients who were tested positive for the virus and are undergoing treatment at the hospital,” Medical Superintendent, SKIMS Dr Farooq Jan told Excelsior.
He said that the condition of all the patients is stable. He, however, said that the majority of the patients tested positive for the virus have got comorbidities which makes them more susceptible to complications caused by the virus due to the weak immune system.
“All the patients are in the isolation where their condition is being continuously monitored,” he said.
Pertinent to mention here, the activity of the virus was quite low till the beginning January this year, however, the number of cases testing positive for the virus increased with the onset of February. The activity of the virus is said to remain up till March after which the virus will go into the inactive state.
