13 injured in clashes over land dispute

MENDHAR, Oct 26: At least thirteen persons were injured in two separate land disputes at Gohlad in Mendhar and Dhar Galoon in Gursai area of Mendhar sub division today.
A police spokesman said that at least ten persons were injured in a bloody clash between the family members of Mohd Azam  and Mohd Khursheed Khan in Gohlad area today. He said the cattle of Mohd Khursheed entered into the fields of one Mohd Azam in Gohlad area. Khursheed claimed that the land belonged to them where the cattle were grazing.  Upon this both Khursheed and Azam resorted to heated exchanges. The other family members on both the sides also joined the quarrel and it was converted into a bloody clash in which both the sides freely exchanged sharp edged weapon and lathis.
They also pelted stones on one another. During clash at least ten persons including both Khursheed and Mohd Azam were injured. Others have been identified as Tasveer Akhtar, Fahmida Jan, Mohd Akram and Israr Ahmed. They all belonged to Mohd Azad group. Nahim Akhtar, Waqar Ahmed, Irfan Ahmed and Khajir Mohd belonged to the other group. Police registered cases and started investigation. Condition of three was said to be serious and they were referred to GMC hospital Jammu.
Meanwhile, in yet another group clash over a land dispute at Dhar Galoon, three persons were injured. They were admitted to local hospital. They are identified   as Bader Hussain, Farooq, Mohd Alias and Rukmat Bi. Condition of Rukmat Bi was said to be serious.
