JAMMU, Feb 12: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora today said that 13 new drainage projects are proposed to be taken up in Srinagar city during the next five years, at an estimated cost of Rs. 6607.39 lakh.
Replying to a question of D S Oberio in the Upper House today, informed that for providing sewerage network to Srinagar city, 4 schemes are under execution in the State Plan which includes pilot sewerage schemes Khushalsar and Brarinambal, besides sewerage scheme Baba Dharam Dass and improvement /re-activation of STP Khanyar.
A comprehensive sewerage scheme Greater Srinagar has also been sanctioned under JNNURM at a cost of Rs. 132.90 crore. The scheme is under execution and major components of the scheme such as 60MLD STP at Noorbagh, Trunck Sewer, Secondary Sewer and Lateral Sewer have been laid and providing of house connections is in process, he added and maintained that for remaining leftover areas of Srinagar city, the department has formulated DPR and same has been submitted to Centre for funding.
The Minister further informed the House that under drainage sector 93 schemes are under execution at an estimated cost of Rs. 15072.68 lakhs, of which an expenditure of Rs. 5644.27 lakh has been incurred so far.
