2 COVID-19 +ve patients die

SRINAGAR, June 22: Two COVID-19 positive persons today died in Kashmir taking the Coronavirus death toll to 85 in Jammu and Kashmir while 16 travelers were among 133 people who tested positive for COVID-19 in Valley, taking the number of cases to 6088. The fresh cases also include three Army soldiers and four police men, two RCC (GREF) men, one CRPF man and a doctor.
A 58-year-old man from Kokernag area of Anantnag district and a 65- year-old man from Kakapora area of Pulwama who were COVID-19 positive with underlying ailments died today.
A 58-year-old COVID-19 positive patient who was shifted from Government Medical College Anantnag on June 19 died at CD hospital this afternoon. The patient was on a ventilator and was suffering from thyroid and pneumonia.
A 65-year-old man from Kakapora area of Pulwama district who tested positive died at SMHS last night. He was suffering from bilateral pneumonia, diabetes and hypertension.
With two more deaths, the death toll in J&K has reached 85 including 75 from Kashmir division and 10 from Jammu division.
Meanwhile, a 65-year old man from Umarabad, Zainakote area of Srinagar who had tested positive for COVID-19 a day before, died at Delhi. The deceased had gone for treatment a few days ago to Amritsar, where from he travelled to Delhi, where he complained of chest pain.
The deceased was admitted at Narender Mohan hospital in Ghaziabad area of Delhi, a week before. His samples were taken a few days ago. He had tested positive yesterday and died this morning.
Among the cases, 69 tested positive at SKIMS Soura, 32 at Chest Diseases Hospital in Srinagar and 32 at SKIMS Medical College Bemina.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, Dr Farooq Jan, told Excelsior that 2434 samples were processed at the viral diagnostic lab of the hospital today, 69 tested positive for COVID-19. He said 20 are from Shopian, 12 Kulgam, 10 Srinagar, nine Pulwama, eight Budgam, three each Kupwara and Bandipora, two each Baramulla and Anantnag besides one from Kulgam.
Among the positives include 15 travellers who arrived at Srinagar airport from New Delhi yesterday. They include six from Srinagar, three Kupwara, two from Baramulla, two Anantnag and one each from Budgam and Kulgam.
Besides this, there are one Army personnel from 9RR of army posted at Kulgam, a CRPF man from 45th Batallation posted at Sumbal Bandipora, two Police men from DPL Shopian and two cops from Pulwama district.
Principal SKIMS Bemina, Dr Riyaz Untoo, told Excelsior that 463 samples were processed at the hospital’s lab, 22 tested positive for COVID-19, 17 from Srinagar and five from Budgam.
An official said that 428 samples were processed at the CD Virology lab today and 32 tested positive. They include two pregnant women, one doctor and four defence personnel including two each from Army and GREF whose samples were received from 92-Base Hospital at Badami Bagh Cantonment Srinagar and 109 RCC Kupwara.
