KATHUA, Nov 27: Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP, R C Kotwal today foiled yet another bovine smuggling bid and rescued 14 animals.
Police said a team of Rajbagh Police Station (PS) foiled bovine smuggling attempt near NHW Rajbagh, rescued 14 animals and seized the vehicle as well.
Police said in the wee hours today it was reliably learnt that one truck bearing Registration Number JK02AP-1279 was on its way from Kathua towards Jammu in connection with smuggling of bovines. Acting swiftly police team led by Inspector, Amit Sangra SHO, PS Rajbagh while performing special naka checking duty near NHW Rajbagh noticed the vehicle. As the driver was signaled to stop for checking, sensing danger, he managed to fled away from the spot while abandoning the vehicle.
During checking, 14 bovines were found to be loaded in the vehicle. All the 14 bovines were rescued and one vehicle was seized. By taking this cognizance case FIR No. 244/2021 U/S 188/IPC, 11PCA Act has been registered at Rajbagh Police Station and further investigation has been set into motion accordingly.
Kathua police has requested to the general public to come forward and share any valuable information with the police regarding bovine smuggling menace.
