JAMMU, Jan 25: Thirteen distinguished persons besides Health and Medical Education Department have been given J&K Government Awards on the Republic Day 2021.
Prof Shiv Datt Nirmohi (writer) has been awarded for Lifetime Achievements while Rafiq Raaz (Poet) has been awarded for achievements in the field of Literature, late Shadi Lal Koul (Actor) for performing Arts and Sajjad Hussain Dar (Paper Machie craft) for excellence in Arts and Crafts.
In the category of Meritorious Service, Naveed Nazir, Prof and Head Pulmonary Medicine, GMC Srinagar; Dr A D S Manhas, Medical Officer NHM; Riyaz Ahmad Mir, Senior Grade Nurse, Chest Disease Hospital, Srinagar; Kanta Devi, Senior Staff Nurse, GMC Jammu and Health & Medical Education Department have been awarded.
Sandeep Singh (Mountaineer) and Kabra Altaf (Judo) have been awarded for being Outstanding Sports Persons while Suraj Kumar Bansal, chairman/Managing Director, Saraswati Group of Companies has been awarded for Outstanding Industrial Entrepreneurship.
Award for Outstanding Media Persons has been announced to Farooq Ahmad Wani (Editor Brighter Kashmir) and Bashir Assad.
While the Award for Lifetime Achievements carries cash of Rs one lakh, a medal and citation, other awards comprise cash of Rs 51000 and citation. However, no investiture ceremony was organized to confer the announced awards in the last several years, with the result a number of awardees are still waiting for conferment of these State awards.
