1400 kgs of poppy husk seized at Lakhanpur

JAMMU, Aug 6: About 1400 kgs of poppy husk was seized by Excise Sleuths and Police party at Lakhanpur Toll Post today which was being smuggled out of the State.
According to Excise Department the consignment was seized from a vehicle bearing Registration Number PB06N-9095 carrying fresh fruit and goods.
The Excise Department claimed that the seized consignment is the biggest ever catch of contraband item at Toll Post Lakhanpur weighing about 1400 kgs. The vehicle along with fresh fruit and contraband items has been seized by the Lakhanpur Police for further investigation under the NDPS Act.

The operation was conducted by the joint team of Excise Inspectors, Shadi Lal, Gagandeep Singh and Sushil Khajuria, Excise Sub Inspectors Surinder Bagal, Manzoor Ahmed and Sheikh Touseef. They were assisted by Excise Guard, Mohammed Rafi under the supervision of Excise and Taxation officers, Abhishake Abrol, Sourabh Sharma and Sandeep Gupta along with SHO PS Lakhanpur Sushil Sharma under the direct supervision of Ranjeet Singh ,Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur and Shridhar Patil, SSP Kathua.
In this regard a case FIR No 76/18 under Section 8/15 NDPS stands registered in P/S Lakhanpur and the investigation is going on.
