142 fresh dengue cases reported

JAMMU, Nov 9: One hundred forty-two fresh cases of dengue have been reported in Jammu region, taking the total number of patients affected with the disease so far this year to 5669 in the Union Territory.
“With 59 more cases reported in Jammu district yesterday, the number of people affected with the vector-borne disease in the Jammu district has raised to 3473”, a health official said, adding, more than 90% cases have been reported from municipal areas.
He said the Jammu district is followed by Samba with 595 cases while 538 cases were reported from Kathua, 295 from Udhampur, 255 from Reasi, 163 from Rajouri, 152 from Doda, 63 from Poonch, 58 from Ramban, 20 from Kishtwar and 20 from Kashmir region. Thirty-seven local cases have also been reported from other States and UTs.
The official further informed that a total of 30139 patients were tested for dengue this year till yesterday out of which 5669 cases were found to be positive. However, it is a matter of relief that only one death has been reported due to dengue this year.
He further revealed that out of 142 dengue cases reported yesterday, 115 were adults (62 males and 53 females) and 27 were children (21 male and 6 female). “A total of 487 patients affected with dengue were hospitalized and of them 400 were discharged after successful treatment while 75 are still under treatment in various hospitals across the UT”, the official added.
