14th bridge collapses in 23 days in Bihar

PATNA, July 10 : With collapse of one more bridge in Mahisi block of Saharsa district on Wednesday, a total of 14 bridges have collapsed in  the last 23 days in Bihar.

 

 

According to reports received here, a small bridge collapsed under Mahisi block. With collapse of bridge, connectivity of Sardiha chowk with Balia Simar and Kundah got snapped, causing great difficulties to local people.

 

 

Connectivity of more than one dozen villages was disrupted with block and district headquarters after the bridge collapse. Locals said that collapse of bridge made it difficult for them to arrange scheduled marriage functions.

 

 

Bihar government had earlier suspended 17 engineers for dereliction of their duties in construction of collapsed  bridges. A total of 13 bridges had collapsed earlier in several districts of Bihar including Araria, Kishanganj, East Champaran and Saran.  (UNI)
