JAMMU, Oct 16: The two-day 14th general conference of Northern Zone Insurance Employees’ Association (NZIEA), Srinagar Division, which concluded today at Press Club Jammu, vehemently opposed the move of the Government to divest the LIC capital.
The Conference also resents various proposals such as reduction in commission to agents, portability of agency force and de-materializing policy bond as it will be injurious to the growth of public sector insurance.
During the Conference, which was guided by comrade Anil Bhatnagar (vice president, All India Insurance Employee’s Association) and comrade V P Arora (vice president, NZIEA), the members said that the Central Government led by BJP is hell bent to snatch the rights of the workers achieved through long and fierce struggles of the working class of the country in the name of labour code bills.
“The Public Sector Insurance LIC and GIC that are not only fulfilling the objectives of nationalization of life and general insurance but also their contribution in nation building is matchless in the country, is being dismantled in pursuant upon the neo-liberal policies of the Government,” the members said while adding that various proposals being put forth by IRDAI regarding agency force and other measures will further damage public sector insurance.
The Conference appealed the working class of the country to be united in fighting various anti-people policies of the Government such as outright sale of public sector, disinvestment of public sector insurance, labour code bills and the issues adversely affecting the lives of the people such as unemployment, inflation, hunger malnutrition and inequality etc.
The proceedings of the Conference were conducted by comrade Pawan Gupta (Divisional Secretary NZIEA, Srinagar Division).
