SAMBA, Feb 22: Police in Ghagwal area here claimed today they have foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 15 animals from the clutches of the smugglers. A vehicle used for transportation of the animals illegally was also seized.
On receiving specific information about smuggling of bovines in a canter (PB06AT-7184) coming from Kathua side, the vehicle was stopped at Tapyal naka on the highway by a team of Police Station Ghagwal, said a police official.
On search of the vehicle, he said, 15 animals crammed inside it in a cruel manner without proper documents were released and the driver of the vehicle booked in case FIR number 32/2025 under sections 223 BNS, 11 PCA registered at Police Station Ghagwal with further investigation taken up.
