15 bovines rescued

UDHAMPUR, Nov 17: Udhampur Police today foiled two bovine smuggling attempts under the jurisdiction of Police Post Roundomail and rescued 15 bovines.
These bovines were being smuggled in two Tata Mobile vehicles, which were intercepted by a Police team of Police post Roundomail at naka point Jaganoo Morh, Dhar road Udhampur.
During checking of these Tata Mobiles, bearing registration number JK14E-8153 and JK14E-8468, 15 bovines were found loaded inside the vehicles in a very cruel manner for smuggling to Kashmir valley.
Drivers of both the vehicles managed fled away from the spot after leaving behind their vehicles on road. Police team tried to chase them and apprehended one of the helpers of the vehicle JK14E-8153, who was identified as Liyakat Ali, son of Sher Ali of Kheri, Udhampur. He was arrested while hunt was on to nab the other smugglers.
All the bovines were rescued and shifted to a safer place while two cases FIRs under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Udhampur.
