15 bovines rescued, two smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, May 5: Udhampur Police today foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling and arrested two smugglers besides rescuing 15 bovines during checking at Naka Point Tikri on the National Highway Udhampur.
A Police team, led by Incharge Police Post Tikri, PSI Abdul Satar, under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan, DySP Hqrs Udhampur, intercepted two groups of bovine animals , which were taken on foot by the smugglers separately towards Kashmir valley without any valid permission.
All the 15 bovine animals in total were rescued and both the bovine smugglers, namely Jamat Ali, son of Mohd Mustfa of Miran Sahib, Jammu and Mohd Rafiq son of Haji Babu of R S Pura were arrested on the spot.
In this regard, two FIRs, number 90/2022 and 91/2022 under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Rehambal and further investigation of the cases is going on.
