15 -day long Expo concludes

JAMMU, Jan 24: The fortnight long exhibition cum sale, EXPO-2015 organised by Department of Handicrafts here at Dusherra ground Gandhi Nagar came to a close today. In the exhibition, products worth Rs 50 lakh were sold by the participants.
On the occasion, several artisans, outstanding officials of the department and societies working in the sector were felicitated by director Handicrafts Department, Tariq Ahmed Ganai, who was chief guest on the occasion.
The 17-day long event was inaugurated by Financial Commissioner Industries and Commerce, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai on January 8. The exhibition which was meant to boost confidence of artisans and provide marketing platform to societies and artisans of handicrafts received overwhelming response.
As many as 50 societies and several artisans besides district officials of the department from both Jammu and Kashmir division of the State participated in the exhibition.
On the concluding day, Director Handicrafts Department, Tarik Ahmed Ganai and Joint Director Handicrafts, Jammu Division distributed certificates of merit to the representatives of societies, artisans and official’s.
In his keynote address, the director appreciated the efforts of artisans and the societies and assured them of providing all the required patronage in future as well.
