540 test +ve, tally crosses 31,000

Srinagar, Aug 21: Fifteen people died in Kashmir today taking the number of COVID-19 deaths in Kashmir to 600 while Valley reported 540 fresh cases taking the total number of positive cases in J&K past 31000.
Among the victims, four were residents of Budgam, three from Srinagar besides one each from Baramulla, Pulmama and Bandipora districts.
A man from Chadoora, who was admitted to SMHS hospital in wee hours, died this afternoon. He tested positive on Rapid Antigen Test.
A 70-year-old woman from Bandipora, admitted to SMHS hospital with bilateral CAP on August 20, died today. Her COVID-19 report was positive.
A 74-year-old man from Kralpora Budgam died, two days after he was admitted to the SKIMS Bemina.
A 70-year-old woman from Chattabal Srinagar also died at SKIMS Bemina and according to a doctor there both patients were suffering from pneumonia besides underlying ailments.
An 85-year-old man from Dragbal Pampore died at SKIMS Soura, a week after he was admitted to the hospital.
A 52-year-old CRPF man from 61 battalion Shivpora who was admitted since August 18 died at SKIMS Soura this afternoon along with a 70-year-old man from Budina Budgam who passed away a day after he was admitted to the hospital.
A 67-year-old man from Dalgate Srinagar died at CD hospital today. He was admitted to the hospital on August 11 and was suffering from underlying ailments and died this afternoon.
He was a known case of COPD, Hypothyroidism, T2DM and HTN. He was admitted to ICU where he had sudden cardiopulmonary arrest and was declared dead at 11.30 a.m.
A 60-year-old man from Bamroo Magam in Budgam district and an 80-year-old from Pattan in Baramulla district having severe COVID-19 pneumonia, died last night at SMHS hospital.
With these deaths, 600 people have succumbed to the virus in Jammu and Kashmir so far with 559 from the Valley and 41 from Jammu division.
Kashmir today reported 540 fresh cases of COVID-19 taking the total number of positive cases in J&K past 31,371 including 24,495 from Kashmir and 6,876 from Jammu.
Those who tested positive today include 206 from Srinagar, 51 Baramulla, 33 Pulwama, 68 Budgam, 45 Anantnag, 40 Kulgam, 29 Kupwara, 52 Bandipora and 16 from Ganderbal in Kashmir division.
As per officials figures, 7,614 positive cases including 189 deaths and 6,188 recoveries are from Srinagar, 2,586 including 93 deaths and 1,909 recoveries are from Baramulla, 2,238 including 1,781 recoveries and 42 deaths are from Pulwama, 2,044 including 1,439 recoveries and 50 deaths are from Budgam, 1,992 including 44 deaths and 1,515 recoveries are from Anantnag, 1,793 including 1,529 recoveries and 31 deaths are from Kulgam, 1,617 cases including 1,466 and 27 deaths are from Shopian, 1,753 including 1,199 recoveries and 40 deaths are from Kupwara, 1,748 including 874 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Bandipora and 1,110 including 553 recoveries and 14 deaths are from Ganderbal.
The total number of positive cases in Kashmir have reached 24,495 including 18,453 recoveries.
The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 6,973 including 5,490 from Kashmir division. With 580 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 23,805 which is 75.88 percent of the total cases.
Srinagar district alone has 7,614 positive cases which is more than the total number of positive cases in Jammu division where total cases are 6,876.
